How big and radical is the right to vote?
We believe the right of one person, one vote is one of the most radical and important rights of any kind and place. One person, one vote means that, in the voting booth, everyone is exactly equal, has exactly the same power and the exact same respect.
Whether a voter is a Nobel prizing winning scientist, a taxi driver, an at-home parent, a student, a best-selling author, the CEO of a multi-national corporation, the biggest donor to a candidate or the opposite, each has the exact same vote. It is perhaps the single most powerful statement that the country respects and values the voice of each and every registered voter exactly equally. No wonder so many in places of power seek to restrain and limit who votes! If you have the right to vote, you should use it. It matters. |
